Following the success of our inaugural South African tour earlier this year, the Spirit of Cricket is proud to announce our return to one of the world’s most breathtaking and culturally rich cricketing destinations.

This tour is not simply about playing cricket—it is about experiencing the game in its purest form while travelling through some of the most iconic locations in the world. It is about connection, camaraderie, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

A Genuine Touring Experience

At the centre of the 2026 tour is the selection of a single representative side:

Spirit of Cricket Masters XI

This team will be selected from player nominations, bringing together a group of passionate cricketers aged between 45 and 65 years (with flexibility around age for the right individuals). A squad of 12 to 15 players will be chosen to represent the Spirit of Cricket on the international stage.

The structure of the tour has been carefully designed to replicate the authentic feel of traditional cricket touring, competitive matches, shared travel experiences, and strong cultural immersion. Over the course of the tour, the Masters XI will compete in seven matches against quality local opposition, providing a high standard of cricket in a truly international setting.

Cricket at Iconic Grounds

The Spirit of Cricket Masters XI will face a range of respected clubs across South Africa, including Western Province Cricket Club, Rondebosch Cricket Club, Groot Drakenstein Cricket Club, Cape Town Cricket Club, and Claremont Cricket Club, before travelling to Johannesburg to take on Kent Park Taverners and the Wanderers Cricket Club.

All matches will be played in a 40-over format on quality turf wickets, with professional umpires and scorers appointed throughout. Matches will also be live streamed, allowing family, friends, and the wider cricket community to follow the journey from anywhere in the world.

Importantly, the experience extends beyond the boundary. Each match day will conclude with post-match functions alongside local teams—an opportunity to build friendships, share stories, and embrace the true spirit of the game.

A Bucket List Test Match Experience

A true highlight of the tour is the opportunity to attend the Test match at Newlands Cricket Ground.

Participants will enjoy Days 1 to 3 of the South Africa vs Australia Test match from a corporate box—an experience that few cricket lovers ever get to enjoy. Widely regarded as one of the most picturesque cricket venues in the world, Newlands offers a setting that perfectly captures the beauty and tradition of the game.

Beyond the Game: Exploring Cape Town

The tour offers a rich cultural experience in Cape Town, widely considered one of the world’s most spectacular cities.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore Table Mountain, visit the vibrant V&A Waterfront, and take in the breathtaking scenery of the Cape Peninsula. The itinerary also includes a premium wine tasting experience at Groot Constantia, paired with a memorable dining experience at Simon’s Restaurant.

These moments away from the field are just as important as those on it—offering time to relax, connect, and fully immerse in the destination.

Accommodation throughout the Cape Town leg of the tour will be at the Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa, a 4-star beachfront property that combines comfort with stunning ocean views.

The African Adventure: Victoria Falls & Safari

For those looking to extend their experience, the tour includes an optional safari extension to Victoria Falls—one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, often referred to as “The Smoke That Thunders.”

This extension also includes a visit to Chobe National Park, home to some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. Guided game drives, a river cruise along the Chobe River, and luxury lodge accommodation combine to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience that perfectly complements the cricket tour.

What’s Included

The tour has been designed to be comprehensive and seamless, allowing participants to focus entirely on the experience.

Inclusions cover seven matches with live streaming, four-star accommodation, daily breakfast, match day meals, airport transfers, internal flights, transport throughout the tour, guided sightseeing, match officials, uniforms, and full logistical support. Entry to the Test match for three days is also included.
