Cape Town, South Africa – Spirit of Cricket will officially launch in Africa in October 2026 with the support of the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa (VCASA).
Building on its sponsorship of the Spirit of Cricket Awards at three previous World Cup events in Cape Town, the brand now brings its flagship tournament concept to the continent for the first time.

The inaugural Spirit of Cricket T20 Africa Franchise Tournament will take place in Cape Town from 10–16 October 2026, featuring eight Over-50s franchise teams drawn from across Africa. Designed to complement rather than compete with existing national team pathways, the tournament expands playing opportunities for Over-50s cricketers across the continent.

The tournament also launches an unprecedented pathway for Over-50s cricketers, with national teams travelling to Harare from 25–30 October 2026 for the ZMC Over-50s Africa Cup, before competing at the IMC Over-50s Cricket World Cup in Hyderabad from 24 January – 7 February 2027.
Beyond the tournament, Spirit of Cricket will partner with Grassroots Cricket South Africa to introduce its Spirit of Cricket Curriculum & Program to clubs and schools throughout Cape Town, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to developing the game both on and off the field.

Anthony Telfer, Founder & CEO of Spirit of Cricket Global, said:
"Launching the Spirit of Cricket in Africa is a major milestone in our global journey. Together with the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa, we're creating more opportunities for Over-50s cricketers while promoting the values of respect, sportsmanship and lifelong friendships. This is just the beginning, and we're excited to build a lasting legacy across Africa through both our tournament and community programs."
Further information on Franchise Team Ownership and the Player Draft process will be released early next week. Individuals, organisations, commercial partners and prospective franchise owners wishing to express their interest or obtain further information are encouraged to contact Anthony Telfer via email at contact@spiritofcricket.com.au
